Bob Scott, a larger than life figure in the world of birds and conservation, died on the 26th March, 2009. To celebrate his life, which introduced the joys of nature, particularly birds to many people, a Natural History Quiz will be launched on the 26th March, 2010. Through the quiz we hope to raise a considerable amount of money to be used to assist/improve the chances of survival of our trans-Saharan migrants as their numbers are rapidly decreasing mainly due to habitat loss through human pressures and global warming.
An enthusiastic quiz participant himself, Bob would have approved of this idea as, whilst seeking answers to any quiz he entered, he realised just how much his own knowledge grew.
The RSPB has launched an Appeal in Bob’s name and again, any money received will assist migrant birds.
In addition, the World Land Trust are funding the creation of a reserve in the Atlantic Rainforest to be called the Bob Scott Rainforest and donations are being collected through Justgiving.org.
